Description: The objectives of the class are to provide a fundamental understanding of the conceptual principles that guide human behavior; teach CPAs to achieve and maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct; teach the core values of the profession; teach compliance with the spirit and intent of the Rules of Professional Conduct, and address ethical considerations and application of the Rules of Professional Conduct to all aspects of accounting work.
Dr. Pitre is a Professor of Accounting with over 35 years of teaching experience, and 30 years of experience as a small business CPA practitioner. He is the author of a Financial Accounting textbook with multi-discipline research in financial accounting, auditing, information systems, health care, and management. His research covers such topics as Ethics, Environmental Cost Liability, Managed Care, Deferred Taxes, Hospital Effectiveness and MIS, The Small CPA Practitioner and Information System Liability, and Organizational Behavior and Citizenship. Professionally he is a member of the American Accounting Association, The Texas Society of CPAs, and the American Institute of Certified public Accountants. He has served on several committees for these organizations.
This four-hour program satisfies TSBPA's requirement for CPAs to educate themselves in the ethics of profession. It is designed for CPAs who practice in industry, public practice, education and government.
